Revlon PhotoReady Powder
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010So I know I can never look like this:
But admit it, we’ve all had at least ONE photo that we have burned, ripped up, or stored in a vault somewhere that makes our face look as if we had fallen face first into a sack of flour. Or a photo in high school when we had just discovered make-up and forgotten to powder our neck so our faces are whiter than the rest of our body. These factors does not a pretty picture make.
Also, most affordable compacts are usually in the lighter side of shades. Me, being a morena who relied on allowance for cellphone credits during my high school years had to make do with Johnson & Johnson compact that came in “fair” or “natural” if I recall correctly.
I don’t know how they define “natural” because I always more or less look like a geisha gone wrong in photos. You can guess what make-up I usually invest in, now that I have the money to burn for it. My favorite has always been L’Oreal Ideal Balance, but I got curious when I saw Revlon’s PhotoReady ads featuring Halle Berry. So for P947.00 I go this:
Unlike other compacts that come with a face spongewhatchamacallit, this comes with a tiny brush which I hardly use. I use a big fluffy brush instead.
I should really post a before and after pic. But I’m not ready for the cyberworld to judge me without make-up so my verdict on the product is: It works. But L’Oreal’s Idal Balance works the same. Photoready, disappointingly speaking, irritates my skin, unlike Ideal Balance that feels like second skin. To be fair though, Photoready does deliver, maybe it’s just not the right match for my skin type which is mixed (T-zone oily, the rest dry).
Also, the first time I used it I had to do an ocular on several charitable institutions including the infamous mountain of garbage that is no longer there: Smokey Mountain. I had to go straight to dinner with a couple of my gal pals after that fateful visit. Because I knew they would love me, methane gas and all, I only had time to change into clean clothes nada shower. Surprisingly, I looked good in the pics which was a great thing, because I knew I could not say the same for how I smelled that night.
Anyhoo, until then, remember girls, if you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got.
