Look at this stuff…

Isn’t it NEAT!?!?!

Look closely. It’s a kick-ass cuff bracelet made of pull-up tabs! Yes! The ones we see on soda cans! Yes, this is an overkill of the exclamation point! Yes, my hand is in need of a manicure!

Considering what the bracelet is made of, you’d think it’d be cheap. But it’s P600.00. A lot of moolah, but it’s a lot of help to the people who made it. These are made by women of Smokey Mountain. The infamous mountain of garbage, that I must point out, is no longer there. :)

But there are still poor people living there. :( . Thankfully, organizations such as the Philippine Community Fund are there to help the residents get on their feet ON THEIR OWN. The thing is with extending a helping hand, it’s more reasonable to give people the tools for a sustainable livelihood, rather than just handing them money that will just eventually run out.

Anyway, I won’t get into details of the organization. But here are a couple of the jewelry they also sell:

necklace made from magazines

31-inch necklace made of magazines

double starnd necklace made of magazines

They also sell purses, wallets, and whatnots. All made from “garbage”.

It’s amazing what one can do with a little creativity and imagination. Interested buyers and for more information on PCF may visit their website http://p-c-f.org/index.php , just click on the online shopping for more of their products. From what I know the products are also available at the American Women’s Bazaar held monthly at the World Trade Center.

Until my next post, remember, women should be the ones polygamous in nature, after all, a rose by any other name is still a rose, but one man’s package will always differ from the other. It may be best to point out also that variety is the spice of life! :)
