Prayers are the best donation

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I know I’ve yet to build up a bigger following, but for my pinoy readers, I know you’ve already heard of the devastation wrought by the Typhoon Ondoy (International name, Ketsana). The Philippines needs all the help it can get. Just to give an idea, here’s our house when it wasn’t that flooded YET, srsly.

Believe me, we were lucky! So lucky! My family is alive and well. But the others were not so lucky. More than 80 have already been declared dead, some people are still missing, some people are still on rooftops with no food and water for 48 hours. Wrecked cars scatter the streets. And the cars are the least of our problems! It pains me to think of all those people, those children, babies, even animals! struggling to get home or find safety. I’m so lucky… and thankful. It’s a month’s worth of rain that fell in one day! So imagine the damage!

Here’s a couple of links in YouTube t0 give you an idea of the magnitude of the damage:

Great thing is, we can help!

This is one of those moments when nothing, NOTHING, not a TV footage, a photo, or a blog entry will be able to capture the magnitude of such a tragedy. I have friends who are awaiting news of their loved ones, and even friends who lost a loved one(s!). I am lucky indeed, to know that those dear to my heart are home, safe and sound.

I know with the global recession, we are all tightening our belts (which is ironic to say in this blog), but as one FB post put it “Prayers are the best ‘donation’” :)

The Army look

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

In addition to angel wings, I also have a fondess for the camouflage print. I have several shirts and a pair of shoes in camouflage. So imagine my delight when I found this:

YRYS Camouflage jacket

I don’t shop that much in Glorietta anymore since they’re renovating it. Most of my favorite shops are gone, and the sight of the boarded up section of Glorietta only reminds me of the tragedy that happened there.

Anyway, there’s a section in Glorietta I go to, near the Techno Hub (is that what it’s called?). There’s a clump of shops there with brand names mixed in with relatively new labels. I found this jacket hidden at the very back of the YRYS stall. It was originally priced at P1,300… I got it for P399! I love how it fits snugly at the waist. Here’s a pic (another bathroom pic hahaha, I really should start a category for it) of me wearing it:

Yes, I should buy a tripod soon.

I went to Sonya’s Garden last month but I haven’t had time to resize all the photos yet. But I will share my experience there soon. Above is a picture of tea jars in their Gift Shop.

An LBD and a white shoe

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Remember the LBD from Pink Manila which I bought from Greenhills?  Here it is as worn:

I have no idea why my arms and legs are so white in this picture, in contrast to my brown face! hahaha. Anyway, here’s a view of the back of the dress.

Sadly, the dress didn’t fit as well as I thought it would; the waist was too high.

I’ve been taking out some of my more dressy clothes for a test run since it’s been while since I’ve donned dressy clothes. I worked for a long time for a sports magazine and I’ve accumulated a lot of running shoes, sports attire, and the lone pair of grappling gloves. Hahaha. I recently switched jobs which would require me to wear more business and semi-formal clothes which I’m really lacking so I’ve been building a whole new wardrobe. I’m really excited about this job since it also entails quite a lot of traveling which I love to do.

Also, I’m spearheading my own shopping magazine now! Watch out for it! I’ll post the cover here once I get everything all sorted out.  :D

Different

The picture above reflects the reason why I changed… uhhh… “circumstances” lately. In my previous circumstance which I’m proud to get out of, I felt like a white shoe with a bit of bling in a sea of dull dull dull shoes. This picture was taken while walking around Marikina expo. :)

Pentax K-x DSLR: Total eye candy to take eye candies with!

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Probably number one on my wishlist! View number two here.

I’ll look good carrying and shooting pictures with the PENTAX K-x DSLR in red noh? Hahaha.

DSLRs often come in black, white, or gray, but Pentax has come up with this beautiful red DSLR. The white version isn’t bad either.

I heard that it’s possible that there will be no additional charge for this service.

Hay, I want I want I want. I’ll sign off now before Olly (my Olympus e500) gets wind of this entry. :)
